Illegal Money Lending and Loan Shark Events reach many people across West Lancs

More than 600 people and 27 groups (see below) recently attended a number of events held at various locations around the West Lancs borough. ICAN in association with Welcome Credit Union, West Lancs ARK and Yewdale Counselling Services were highlighting the dangers associated with borrowing money from illegal money lenders.

DSCF1922A spokesperson for ICAN said “with people having low wage increases, Benefits changes and the cost of living rising disproportionately we know many families will find it increasingly more difficult to make ends meet”. ICAN held these events, in conjunction with the Illegal Money Lending Team to promote the benefits of joining a Credit Union and to show the real dangers of borrowing from illegal money lenders.
